Traveling to foreign destinations, especially to developing nations, can be a fun, exhilarating and a great learning experience. Foreign travel can also be filled with unexpected problems. CDC Travel Health Experts show you how to prevent potential problems. To support these efforts, CDC-TV has just released a two-part program in its "Health Matters" series titled "Way to Go" that explains why it’s important to visit a travel medicine specialist before international travel, learn the health dangers that are often prevalent in developing countries, and what vaccinations and medicines that you may need before travel.
The programs showcase what actions to take before travel and include the benefits of packing a travel health kit, bringing necessary items, and investing in travel and evacuation insurance. The programs also explain what problems that you may encounter in developing nations, especially from roadside food vendors, and why you should only use bottled water.
The two-part program explains the risk of developing blood clots on long flights and demonstrates how people who travel overseas have overcome potential obstacles such as rabies and what you can learn from their experiences.
Users can download the video or the podcast at CDC-TV, or they can access it on their mobile phones. Organizations can use the video in a number of ways, especially as an informational tool for policy makers as well as travelers.
New "Health Matters" features are released at CDC-TV each month. The videos are produced in collaboration with CDC subject matter experts and are designed to provide insights into important health issues, information about CDC research and programs, and ways viewers can address the issues. Each feature includes links to related resources, so that users can find more information. Other CDC-TV content includes PSAs and innovative content, such as the animated Eagle Book series.
Providing short, high-quality videos is part of CDC's goal to increase people's access to the information necessary to help prevent illness, injury and to protect their health and that of their families. Collectively, these and other resources contribute to CDC's efforts supporting a larger effort by staff and partners to lead America toward being the healthiest nation.
